Fiasco

Fiasco is a game of cooperative story telling in which you all play as people with powerful ambition and poor impulse control. Collect four dice for each person playing with half in one color and half in the other color. Roll all the dice together and organize by number. Pick a playset in the Fiasco book. As a group match the numbers to relationships, places or things in your story and describe them. Each person should pick one or two relationships to other people at least and there should be a few locations. Write these down on the note cards provided and place them in easily visible locations on the table. Feel free to embellish beyond what the set says as the character (names and descriptions), settings (names and a bit of flavor text) and items (descriptions and names as appropriate) begin to emerge in your story.

Once that is done, put all the dice in the middle. Designate one color a bad outcome and one color a good outcome. Now go from person to person and play out/describe a scene. The person who's turn it is can chose to either set up or resolve the scene. Seting up generally involves stating what characters are there, what place it is, and what goals is your character trying to accomplish. Resolving takes that information and describes the outcome. Feel free to play this loosely and take suggestions and work together to come up with a really entertaining scene. Towards the end of the scene, whoever is resolving the scene determines whether the outcome is generally good or bad and gives the the person whose turn it is a dice of the corresponding color. This continuous for each person until everyone has gone twice.

At this point, everyone should have two dice in front of them. They will roll their dice and dice of the same color can be added while those of opposing colors are subtracted. Ex. I have a blue die and a red die, I role a blue 6 and a red 2, my total is 4 blue. The die color previously designated good represents physical and the die color previously designated bad represents mental. Following the below scale use the number as a guide for determining the type of ending your character gets. Go around to each person and talk about their ending. Once you've resolved everything your done and hopefully with ridiculous laughs.

Physical
1-2 Poor, your character is batter and bruised and possibly at the brink of death if not dead.
3-4 fair, your character come away a bit worse for wear, perhaps a bit bruised, maybe a broken bone or two.
5-6 great, your character is actually doing pretty well. They are are stronger or in better shape than they were before.

Mental
1-2 Poor, your character isn't quite sure what day it is, or year, or planet. They've gone a bit crazy or become severely depressed. They are going to need some rehabilitation.
3-4 fair, Times have been tough recently, but your character has survived it, The memories are still with them though and that may or may not be worse for them.
5-6 Great, your character is feeling great, they have more confidence and ability. Despite everything, they are doing great.
